I am actively involved with the archives and records management professions in Ireland and the UK, serving on the Irish committees of both the Archives and Records Association and the Information and Records Management Society.
I am also involved with the work of the International Standards Organization (ISO) on standards related to records management and archives, representing Ireland via the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).

Following a year working in the university's Archives and Special Collections, I came to Dublin where I completed the MA in Archives and Records Management at UCD.
Subsequently, I worked for three years as a professional archivist at the National Archives of Ireland cataloguing the Registered Papers of the Chief Secretary's Office.
I took up the post of lecturer in the School of History and Archives at UCD in 2012, teaching on the MA in Archives and Records Management programme, the only professionally accredited education programme in Ireland.
I teach core and optional modules for the MA on a range of recordkeeping theory and practice including records management, archival preservation, archival outreach and the management of audio-visual and non-textual archive materials.
In addition to supervising MA dissertations and doctoral research, I also coordinate two professional Certificate programmes in Archives Management and Records Management, aimed at providing training and education for those already working in recordkeeping roles.
